ISSUES AFFECTING KANATA SOUTH WARD 23

My campaign will focus first on the issues facing Kanata South, issues such as;

· Crime; <more detail soon!>

· Vandalism; (graffiti; see photo gallery); Kanata is under siege by a serial tagger.

· Drugs; far too many grow-ops are uncovered in Kanata, and secluded areas near high schools have become drug dens.  This has to stop! 

· Flooding; whenever I look at the way an issue is being handled, I always ask myself “is there a better way?”  The flooding in Glen Cairn has been an embarrassment to the City of Ottawa, to say the least. Not one of those homeowners/renters moved-in thinking that they’d be flooded and lose thousands of dollars of property 3 TIMES!  Why wasn’t the sewer infrastructure corrected after the first flooding incident? Why not after the second?  It shouldn’t have taken 3 instances, and the City Solicitor (while perhaps correct from a legal standpoint) should never have been quoted in the local media saying that the City is not liable, whether that be true or not.  That rubbed more than a grain of salt in hundreds of very fresh wounds.  There was a better way!
